TITLE: PILOTS SEAT - SAFETY BELT  CLASSIFICATION
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

During the course of an accident investigation, it was found that the cord attaching the safety pin to the webbing strap of the nipple portion (Pt. No. H37546A) of the pilots safety belt (Pt. No. Hj7544A), had been replaced with a cord some 16".0 long. It was considered that this cord may have been a contributory cause of the accident.

British Aerospace STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that the operators of De Havilland aircraft fitted with this type of belt should, before further flight, inspect and measure the relevant cord.

Cords with lengths in excess of that shown on the attached diagram should be shortened and re- stitched to the webbing, in accordance with the maintenance manual to the dimensions indicated.

This Technical News Sheet CT(MOTH) No.24. Issue 2, dated Ist June, 1994 supersedes and cancels Issue 1, dated 20th August, 1992.

Whenever a new Technical News Sheet (T.N.S.) is published, or an existing T.N.S. re-issued, operators are advised to hand amend the copy they hold of T.N.S. CT(MOTH) No.l. "LIST OF TECHNICAL NEWS SHEET" to ensure an up to date index is maintained.
