TECHNICAL NEWS SHEET

APPLICATION: INFORMATION

SERIES TNS CT (MOTH) NO. 23 ISSUE 2 DATED 22 FEBRUARY 1993

TITLE: STREAMLINE WIRES

Aircraft Applicability: All

    1. The Streamline wires originally fitted to de Havilland Civil Aircraft and subsequently supplied as spares by the Company were manufactured from carbon steel to specification BS W3. This material is no longer available and wires are now being made from different materials by specialist manufacturers.

    2. British Aerospace have investigated the alternative materials available from one manufacturing source. We consider that streamline wires supplied by Bruntons (Musselborough) Ltd, and manufactured from materials specification BS S80 or 316 S16 and released in accordance with the additional requirements of BAe drawing M51000 issue 2 satisfy the type design requirements.

    3. Operators vishing to install these replacement streamline wires should ensure that copies of the Manufacturers Authorise Release Certificates are available and that they clearly state the wire part number, material specification, batch number and include reference to BAe document M51000 issue 2.
