TITLE: FUSELAGE: PORT VERTICAL MEMBER FRONT JOINT 'C'

Aircraft Applicability: DH82 and DH82A TIGER MOTH

    A case has been reported of the fracture of the Port Vertical Member, Part No. H. 29670, which is located at joint 'C' of the fuselage structure. The fracture occurred through the bolt hole for the oil tank attachment. This particular member was taped, and the crack covered, the damage was only discovered due to a wrinkle in the tape.

    We therefore recommend that operators of Tiger Moth aircraft inspect this particular member for any signs of fracturing at the next 50 hr inspection and at every subsequent annual inspection. Any damage should be repaired in accordance with the information contained in the Tiger Moth Maintenance and Repair Manual.
