TITLE: ADHESIVES FOR REPAIR SCHEMES CLASSIFICATION
INFORMATION

From the receipt of enquiries from time to time, it is obvious that Operators of Tiger Moth aircraft are sometimes unsure of the correct adhesive to use when carrying out repairs to their aircraft as detailed in the Repair Section of the Maintenance and Repair Manual. In consequence, the following information is issued to provide guidance under these circumstances.

Where glues are specified in Section 2 of the Manual, (e.g. Page 1, Para. 6 and Page 12, Para. 11), a cold setting synthetic resin adhesive to Specification BS.1204, Standard WBP and/or MR may be used. Standard INT is not to be used.

The following adhesives are typical examples that are known to be suitable:
    (a) Aerolite 300 and 306 BAEP 4015  CIBA GEIGY
    (b) Beetle W990 (previously Beetle A2)  B.I.P. CHEMICALS
    (c) Cascophen PC.I.  RS-12/RXS-22 BORDEN (U.K.)

This Technical News Sheet CT (MOTH) No.7. Issue 1, dated Ist December, 1994 supersedes and cancels CT (82) No.21. Issue i, dated 4th January, 1965.

Whenever a new Technical News Sheet (T.N.S.) is published, or an existing T.N.S. re-issued, operators are advised to hand amend the copy they hold of T.N.S. CT (MOTH) No.l."LISTOF TECHNICAL NEWS SHEETS" to ensure an up to date index is maintained.
