Moth Minor, January 2007

Wanted. A tail trolley suitable for use with a Tiger Moth fitted with a tailwheel not a conventional skid. Mike Carns, USA. E-mail: mikecarns@aol.com

Help wanted. I would be very grateful for advice on wiring for my Tiger Moth which I am restoring to a 1940 military specification. My drawings list 'ducel' and 'unicel' (with numbers which may be amperages), which are clearly double and single wires. I cannot track any such wires but have found a source for wiring on vintage and veteran cars. The main questions are:
 What colours are used?
Of what material is it made?
 Was it cloth covered?
I seem to remember there was a mention of yellow. However, my Tiger Moth (which was wired) still has the remains of wire coiled in the top wings which is covered in a black material. I am particularly interested in the exposed wiring, ie. in the cockpit area. Help gratefully received. Kevin Crumplin. E-mail: crumplin@aol.com

Help wanted. We are anxious to trace any information on DH85 Leopard Moth G-ACKM (7026) which was owned between 1934 and 1936 by Sir Lindsay Everard and based at Ratcliffe. Can anybody confirm the colour scheme? Please contact Ann French at the Leicestershire Aero Club. Tel. 01162 592360. (GB). E-mail: info@leicestershireaeroclub.co.uk

Help wanted. I need to confirm the pattern used on camouflaged Australian built RAAF Tiger Moths ex factory. I am referring to the Earth Brown/Foliage Green pattern used in production in the period 1940-1942. Information should be verifiable preferably from original fabric, photography, factory plans or military data. The RAAF stipulated 'Air Diagram 1169' as a standard pattern for all single engine biplanes but copies of this appear to be extinct. Darryl Hill. Hong Kong. E-mail: hillyhkg@netvigator.com
